A Virtual Field Trip to Jordan!

This morning we were so lucky to be able to take a virtual field trip across the world!  Ryan and his mother prepared a special presentation to share more information about the culture and history of Jordan. We even FaceTimed with his aunt and cousin in Jordan!  The internet and technology are truly amazing!!

Array City

The beginning strategies of multiplication are repeated addition and arrays. We created arrays with manipulatives, and students used objects from home to create more arrays.  We looked for arrays all over the school and learned that arrays are everywhere!  Next we studied a piece of art from The Johnson Collection in downtown Spartanburg which displays arrays in skyscraper windows. Students then created their own skyscraper array. Finally, we put them all together to make an Array City!
